I n China , there was a man who had a house on a little hilltop .There was a brook running on one side of his house and a lush green meadow on the other side. Everyday, this man would carry water from the brook below into the water pots, on a pole to his house on the top. Now, one of the water pots cracked and leaked. By the time the man reached home, the water pot would be empty. Through out the days the other pot, which was complete and carried the water full till the top, would mock the cracked pot, calling it “Good for nothing.” for being a complete failure. The cracked pot was burned with guilt, shame and discouragement. It was depressed because of its weakness. It wondered,” Why does he continue to use me, a good for nothing? At least then no one will accuse me of doing fruitless job .I would be spared from his humiliation! Why do I have to go on?”
One day, the cracked pot raised up its voice to its master and said,”I have been of no use. Why do you use me? Cast me away “. The master asked, ”why do you think like that?” The pot replied saying,”I am cracked and so could not give you a full pot of water All these days I have given you partly filled water. My water spilled on the way. I am of no use you as I am not complete!”
The master said,” You are right. You are not complete. You are a broken pot .But I still use you. As we climb up the hill, knowing that you leak, I planted seeds on the side where water drips from you. As you water those seed every day, they have bloomed into flowering plants. Today, the whole path is blooming with fragrant flowers .My children enjoy walking and playing up hill. My daughter pluck the flowers and decorate their hairs and our house with it .I enjoy some quite time among those flowers too. They are blooming today, because of the water that has seeped through your cracks. So you have been of much more use for me than a complete pot. You have served me well”.
In the same way, we may have much weakness in us that might discourage us. People point to out our incapability. We want to give up like this pot. But it is those same weaknesses that God uses for the best. It is best to submit to God and trust Him to use us with our weakness for His service. The Lord told us,” My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
1Corinthians 1:27
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things, which are mighty;
