On Wednesday, the 6 th of June 2007, when the door bell rang at 23.00 hours, Pastor Peter proceeded to open the door, anticipating an urgent prayer requirement for some deserving soul. Running behind, little Sandra followed faithfully, holding on to Dada, while Sister Jayshree was busy in the bedroom doing some packing for their trip to Coimbatore.
On opening the door, a man appeared with a bouquet of flowers and stepped in greeting Pastor. As soon as he was inside, the man looked behind and called two of his accomplices who instantly jumped inside. Pastor immediately realized that something was not quite right and that the visitors came with an evil intention. They asked to see Sister Jayshree too and told little Sandra to go inside, but the 3 year old refused to budge. Without wasting a moment the three guys brought out wooden rods which looked like stumps and began hammering Pastor Peter. Horrified, little Sandra wailed at the top of her voice shouting, “..why are you beating dada……don't beat dada..” which fell on deaf ears. The miscreants mercilessly struck Pastor left and right while one of them made the intentions clear when he yelled in marathi, “thyacha pai thodun taaka (break his legs) and they began hitting on his knees. Sensing that little Sandra and Sister Jayshree were in danger, Pastor Peter immediately darted out of the door and the thugs followed him out. Meanwhile Sister Jayshree ran out on the terrace and called for help.
Once down, a knock on the head made Pastor unconscious. Immediately, the miscreants took off from the rear side of the building and fled. Moments later, Pastor Peter recovered and refused to be taken to the hospital. His whole body was suffering in pain, but Pastor simply took on the name of Jesus and looked quite alright. All the leaders of the church assembled along with Dr. Sunil John (church elder), who advised that a primary check-up would be helpful. In the meantime somebody from the society called on the police and an FIR was registered, though Pastor Peter kept saying that he does not want to register any complain. Reaching hospital, all tests, scans and x-rays showed that nothing was wrong.
All reports were normal. Glory to God!!
From the very next day itself news spread like wild fire all over the city, with every news paper showcasing the episode, albeit some did not portray the real picture. Rumor mongerers and a few anti-social elements tried to create panic by sticking posters and distributing hand-bills which spoke against Pastor Peter, against Vineyard Workers' Church and also against the work of God. The posters cried out – Shut! Shut! Shut! Vineyard Workers' Church ought to be shut down!
But then, is God mocked? And will some whiff of air shake the Mighty Rock of all Ages? Following Saturday, 9 th June, more than the usual crowd of 15000 descended at VWC to attend the Blessing Meeting and God proved His presence once again by His mighty healings, miracles and blessings.
Friday, 8 th June, Pastor Peter and Sister Jayshree, along with Sandra were off to
Coimbatore, being invited by Dr. DGS Dhinakaran of Jesus Calls, for addressing a special Prayer Meeting which was to be held on the 9 th and 10 th of June, and not to mention that the meeting was excellent, tremendous, marvelous and awesome! The Lord Jesus stood more strongly than ever with His faithful servant - Pastor Peter.
However, once again,on the 25th of Aug, 2007, the anti Christian people attacked Pastor Peter's car as they headed home after the Saturday service though by God's grace no one was hurt through it all. The anti Christian people held a meeting near the church in which they clearly announced their intentions to increase the attacks on Pastor Peter and the church.

Vineyard Workers' Church buys land in Kamsheth & Nagar!
After a long-long wait, VWC finally purchased a sprawling piece of land at Kamsheth, in Pune District. It is a very beautiful land touching the river Indrayani and spreads over more than 10 acres. It is a well known fact that the Blessing Meetings currently held at VWC Dapodi, is seeing a crowd beyond capacity. The 20,000 odd people who come for these meetings, week after week, could not be accommodated comfortably. A new land big enough to contain such a mass of people became the need of the hour. After a lot of spiritual warfare, the ministry managed to strike this deal. Glory to God! Very soon we will be able to stage the Blessing Meetings at a much larger scale. Amen!
Similarly a beautiful land admeasuring half an acre was also purchased for the Vineyard Workers' Church in Ahmednagar. Until now the meetings were being held on the terrace of a hotel which could not contain the growing number of hungry souls. Thus this was the right time that God blessed us with this beautiful land ao that many more people can be accommodated.
By faith Pastor Peter has gone ahead and paid post-dated cheques for both the lands, seeking time for the payment. The task seems incredible, nevertheless, we believe that God will meet our every need.
